Они не ушли, не пропали бесследно,
Рассыпавшись пеплом пожарищ чумных,
И их имена, разнесённые ветром,
Не смолкли в трясине речений пустых.
Минули столетья кровавою мессой,
И мир под пятою железной поник,
Но в тёмной глуши затаённого леса
Встаёт позабытый обугленный лик,
И хмурит глаза, утомлённый, сурово,
Он ищет, в ком жив ещё Памяти зов,
Кто гордо отринул бездушное слово –
Ведь то, что на Сердце, важней всяких слов.
Он верит: однажды, сквозь пни и болота,
Придут к нему люди из дальних краёв,
И встанут в безмолвье, почуяв, как что-то
В душе их прорвалось сквозь толщу веков.
И руки они вознесут прямо к небу,
И вспомнят забытые все имена,
И сгинет злой морок, как будто и не был,
И люди очнутся от долгого сна.
Польются, как встарь, звуки песен заветных,
И им улыбнётся обугленный лик…
